Investing in Private REITs with a Self-Directed IRA or Solo 401(k)
Overview
In this webinar, we discussed some of the benefits of investing your SDIRA in a private REIT. Also, we are pleased to welcome on the webinar special guest expert, Matt Pedersen, President of DakotaREIT.com.
Here are some of the things we discussed:
- A real estate investment trust (REIT) is a company that invests in/owns several types of income-producing commercial real estate such as multi-family housing/apartment buildings, student housing, retirement and senior communities; warehouse and industrial properties; retail centers, hospitality, and office buildings.
- Differences in public vs. private REITs.
- When your self-directed IRA invests in a private REIT, all income and expenses related to the asset flow in and out of your retirement plan.
- REITs provide access to dividend-based income in the short term, and long-term return on investment as the property grows in value over time.
