Directed IRA is the best custodian for alternative IRAs and other self-managed retirement plans. Mat is extremely knowledgeable and proactive. The only downside is their fees are a bit on the high side and wires are slow to clear.

I am really impressed with Directed IRA. I got the help I needed and the questions answered to be able to set up my IRA for the first time. It was easy to get a call with John, who walked me through it. Then Desiree was very prompt in confirming that I had my documents in order and made sure I would be on time. I am very pleased with the overall communication and the help I have received all the way from pre-account set up to funding and more. No issues at all, great service and company to work with. Michelle and Wayne are awesome!
Also, in case you are interested, I believe one of the founders has a youtube channel where you can learn interesting topics and they also run regular webinars sharing information about investing/retirement accounts.

Directed IRA was referred to me through a trusted business contact, and the experience fully lived up to that recommendation. They helped me set up a self-directed IRA and made what could have been a complicated process feel clear and manageable.

I've had the pleasure to work with Directed IRA for several SDIRA investments and have had a 5-star experience on both (thank you Desiree, Yuma, and Darren!).

The team is competent, fast, and helpful. Their fees are in line with the market (if not slightly cheaper) and their service is excellent.

There are a lot of SDIRA groups out there, but after my research and experience, I would 10/10 choose them again. Thanks!

I had the BEST experience transferring my IRA to Directed IRA. Everything about it felt aligned, easy, and grounded, especially because I was lucky enough to get Markus on the phone.

Markus was absolutely incredible.
He was kind, patient, and genuinely knowledgeable: not pushy, not salesy, just supportive and clear. I originally planned to do everything on my own because I’ve had negative experiences with advisors in the past, but Markus completely changed that. He walked me through every step, made the process simple, and explained things in a way that felt empowering instead of overwhelming.

I had seen amazing Google reviews about Markus and honestly thought he’d be too busy… so when he answered my call himself, it felt like a blessing. And he lived up to every single one of those reviews.

If I could give him six stars, I would.
I’m genuinely grateful for the experience, for his energy, and for how smooth the entire transfer was. When it’s light, it’s bright, and this whole process felt exactly like that.

Horrible, horrible company. I have gone through the entire process of setting up, funding and now unwinding the purchase of real estate in my self directed account. Every step of the way I MUST call many times to have new steps taken.
I can not wait to end my relationship with this company!
Never called back, have to threaten to get any funds sent to my new company. Self Directed IRA is constantly blaming other company. I have been forced to keep detailed notes of every interaction, how long I spend on hold, never being called back.
Mark and Mat are great marketers but they are not able to run this business.

I am so glad I found directed IRA. Every step of the way they provide five-star customer support to help their clients prosper. I expected this to be like other IRA companies I've worked with including difficulty finding phone numbers, long waits for customer support, and days to get anything accomplished. With directed IRA, I feel like I have an additional financial and administrative team. Not only do I speak to knowledgable and results-based team members, but they are not afraid to share their direct numbers, text with updates, and call back when they think up a new solution for a challenge I am addressing. Outstanding Service from Marcus at Directed IRA

Marcus at Directed IRA made the process of funding my notes fast and easy. Their electronic system is user-friendly, and Marcus called promptly this morning to confirm the send (I wanted them to go out today). He answered all my questions and followed up quickly to ensure everything went smoothly.

I've used three different Self-Directed IRA trustees but Directed IRA is by far the best. Their fees are reasonable but it's their service and support that sets them apart. I have found the process setting up the self-directed accounts to be very straight forward with their online onboarding capability. With great customer service and many options to self-direct your funds, Directed IRA in my opinion is the best option.

I needed to set up a somewhat complicated structure with multiple accounts involved. Directed IRA works with you through all the required steps, and is very responsive. At all times I had a dedicated human contact to work with, and never had to dial into some anonymous call center. Direct IRA is with you every step of the way! Even before getting an account I started by watching their YouTube videos to learn more about options with growing my 401k/IRA and which account is best suited for me. They then scheduled a call to discuss needs/account set up and have always had an agent assigned for each specific step, which makes it very easy to answer any questions along the way. The best part, they have all the people you need, like a sister lawyer company and bank that can best help handle these types of accounts; and they all talk and work hand in hand.
