If you have a previous employer-sponsored plan, such as a 401(k), Roth 401(k), 403(b), TSP, 457, Profit Sharing, or Defined Benefit.

Two Steps are required:
1) Complete this form and then contact the plan administrator to obtain their direct rollover request form.
2) While completing this form you will be prompted to upload a copy of the most recent statement from your current financial institution.

60-Day Rollover

As the IRA owner you can take receipt of funds distributed to you from an IRA or
eligible non-IRA plan, then deposit them into an IRA within 60 days without triggering
a taxable event. You must return the funds to an IRA within 60 days, or the rollover
will be considered a reportable distribution that is subject to taxes and if you are under
59, subject to penalties. Current IRS rules only allow one rollover between IRAs per
person per 12-month rolling period. Please familiarize yourself with the IRS’s
“One-Rollover-Per-Year Rule”.

**Please note, this form does not apply when you receive a check from a former
employer plan that is made payable to your new custodian. Please complete the
401(k) or Other Employer Plan Rollover form.

401(k) account with Directed IRA. While completing this form, you will be prompted
to upload a copy of your most recent statement from your current financial institution.
Roth IRAs cannot rollover into a Solo 401(k).

employer you will need to contact the plan’s administrator to obtain their plan’s
distribution request form.

FAQs

How Long to Fund My IRA?

Directed IRA will initiate transfer requests from an existing IRA within 3-business days of receiving your completed transfer form. Transferring assets other than cash may require additional time and documentation. If you wish to expedite the submission of your transfer request, please indicate on the form.

Upon receipt of your funding request, actual timelines to fund your account are dependent upon your current custodian or administrator. For Transfers (trustee to trustee) the process from start to finish usually takes 5-10 business days. For Direct Rollovers, the process usually takes 2-4 weeks due to employer plans typically only willing to send physical checks. We recommend you contact your current financial institution to ensure they are processing your transfer or rollover request to Directed IRA.

When are My Funds Available to Make an Investment?

All checks and bank transfers (ACH) should fully clear into your Directed IRA account within 7 business days upon receipt of funds. Wires are available same day.

Do I Need a Statement?

For all rollovers, you will need to provide a copy of your most recent statement from your current financial institution. You may submit via email to [email protected] or use our secure file upload below.
