Hello, I recently had a startup investment in my self-directed IRA/LLC that had an IPO exit. I opened a brokerage account with TD Ameritrade in the name of my IRA/LLC to hold the public shares after the IPO. TD Ameritrade later asked me to submit a W-9 to confirm my EIN for the account. I followed your article about filling out a W-9 for my IRA/LLC and TD Ameritrade would not accept it with my custodian’s EIN as recommended in your article. They would only accept the EIN for my LLC. I even sent them your article, but they would not accept my W-9 filled out as you suggested. Any recommendations on how I should proceed? I don’t want this to cause confusion for the IRS and end up with me getting audited. Thank you.
